Wouldn’t it be great to have a pub in Port Williams?
We came up with the idea one snowy evening when six of us were sharing TGIF drinks around a fireplace in Port Williams. Someone suggested, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a pub in Port Williams?”
The reasons seemed obvious, it would be easy for many to walk home, and for a growing community, Port Williams lacked a place for friends to gather and socialize. Three years later, after many hoops and hurdles, our co-operative pub is open with over forty community shareholders.
Our goal is to provide employment, minimize ‘food kilometers’ – several products such as cheese and grass-fed beef are from Starr’s Point, which is within five kms of The Port – and showcase the bucolic pastoral views of the tides and dykelands.
We want you to enjoy the friendship and community spirit, the view, our handcrafted beers and great local food. We hope that you will be a regular visitor.

A place where friends gather
In it’s first three years The Port has become a social crossroads for the Valley in general and Port Williams in particular.
Friends and neighbors gather here in a relaxed venue to socialize, watch the latest game, or enjoy the regular entertainment. The Port is a fun environment to bring a first date, as well as lending itself to celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and other significant events, including weddings.
The Port has become more and more integrated with the local community. A symbiotic relationship has formed between us and the people of the Valley, driving us to improve, in all aspects of our performance. We look at our community and we ask ourselves “What can we do to make it better?”
As time progresses our patrons and community members are making the pub a part of their lives and most cherished memories. Every day coming to the pub feels a little more like coming home.
